Phone

Rick is (probably) the only person on the Qwest account. Rick should call Qwest at 800-244-1111 and order a new line on the existing account.

Server donation

Ben secured a powerhouse server donation -- 4U rackmount, dual-core Opteron 165, 4GB DDR400 RAM, SATA RAID card, etc. It should hold 8 hot-swappable SATA drives. Our donor needs a tax deducation letter/receipt. Rick must do this. Rick is out of town but will be around tomorrow night, Tuesday, June 20. That's our last chance to get him for six plus weeks. Ben will try to draft a receipt for Rick to sign.

Audio and signal help

We met Jeff Bartone, Technical Director of Capitol Theater, and he's willing to lend his superior audio tech knowledge to KOWA-LP. All we need to do is give him a call and invite him over.

For transmitter/antenna tech, we can contact Sandi Woodruff.

Transmitter location

We have a potential location on Bush Mountain, which might be around here: map. For a map showing 816 Adams and Bush Mountain, go here: map.

We are only allowed to move the transmitter a certain distance from the current location. We think it's three miles, but we need to verify that. And we also need to know where our transmitter location is on our permit. It would be a pain to pursue locations only to find out later it's not legal to move there.

Tech - computers, web, programs, email

Ben set up kowalp.org. We have this wiki now, and mailing lists. See Mailing Lists.

We need to fix our computers. The new one is way too slow, and the hard drives are full. We need big enough drives, fast enough processors, enough memory. We can maybe contact Lewis and/or Chris for computer help.

Construction

Ben wants to take measurements of the room and think about how we want to ultimately construct the studio. We need to consider the upstairs apartment and potentially walling off a privacy hallway, or somehow making it so the caretaker has some privacy. Ben may be able to get a good carpenter to help.

Schedule

Schedule should be documented at Schedule. We need to get Sam the Party DJ up and running, and Juice to automatically download podcasted shows. The majority of the shows we want to play seem to have podcasts, greatly simplifying our lives.

Treasury

KOWA-LP received a $300 grant from the community sustaining fund. We need a big picture priority list of equipment wants/needs. We can start documenting that at Needs.

Promotion/recruiting

Number one priority is to tell the public when we meet. We need to make some legally correct station IDs and PSAs. Ben created a station ID that includes the new meeting time.

Action items

  1. Rick - call Qwest at 800-244-1111 and order new phone line on existing account.
  2. Rick - need donation letter for server donor.
  3. Someone - verify transmitter location as per license, find out how far we can move.
  4. Ben - take measurements of studio
