Defining needs
When defining our needs and wants, we start from the question: what is the most ideal solution? After that, assuming our ideal solution is not easily attainable, we identify (cheaper) solutions that might work, solving a minimum level of needs.
Possible needs that require more documentation
- computer stuff
- headphones
- monitor - high quality receiver and speakers, austin is just loaning his receiver/speakers
- modulation monitor - a calibrated receiver type of equipment that displays on a meter the audio level of the broadcast signal expressed in "% modulation."
Audio tech help
Jeff came over on Sunday July 9 and looked at some of our sound issues -- primarily grounding. He tweaked our compressor/limiter to make it so we can keep our levels at the right level and still have an audible signal.
Talk to Greg Falxa. He's a radio engineer.
Ask Sandy for help.
For studio design, maybe get a tour of mixx 96 as they put a lot of thought and money into their studio design.
- CCI - local, sells a great deal of audio. they have consultants, give them a call.
- ERI - 360-943-1071 - they sell audio stuff, they get a lot of used good equipment, racks, etc.
Mixer
- A good 16 channel Behringer Eurodesk mixing console was donated 8/07 by Seth Myles Sanaie of San Diego, CA. Thanks Seth.
Rackmount CD players
- Jeff likes tascam cd players, but not many avaliable on ebay. You can get a $300 new standton dual player on ebay.
Cost: around $500
Mics and booms
- Shure mics are industry standard, rugged, handy. SM58 is a cheap good mic.
