Equipment

  • two computers, one of which is the final destination for outbound audio, the other is for audio production/other things.
  • 4 channel master mixer
  • numerous CD players
  • 2 turntables - Numark TT1610
  • turntable/mic mixer - Numark DM950 - might be crap

Construction

Here is a basic printable PDF of the studio with measurements.

Ultimately, the goal is to move the studio from the house to the carport, or perhaps to a new room beside the carport. Ben is working on costing out this project.

Carport studio

If we use the whole carport, we must lay a new concrete path for wheelchair accessibility. If we use half the carport, we would not need to do this.

It would seem cooler to have a full-carport studio, something we could fit a band in.

New structure beside carport

We could construct a new structure beside the existing carport. Currently that space is occupied by a 10x10 shed filled with mostly junk, and an old truck that Rick suggested we should offload for cheap just to get rid of it.

How much would it cost?

  • 10x20 approx.
  • concrete foundation
  • basic framing
  • roof
  • quality siding
  • electric
  • plumbing (bathroom?)
  • etc

Could we simply find a pre-made shed/office thing with electric?

Cushioned turntable surface

The turntables, when turned up, transmit the sound of feet stomping on the floor, quite clearly. We should maybe suspend a table from the ceiling. And having a concrete floor lined with carpet might help.

Command chair layout

Figuring a 10x20 room, we could do like a 10x8 three or four-sided desk style command chair.
