Talk:Studio
From KOWA-LP
Q: What is wrong with the current room?
A: The current studio is in a back room at Media Island. The Media Island caretaker lives in a part of the house that is only accessible through the studio. Privacy for the caretaker and insulating the studio from disruption were identified as legitimate concerns that we should seek to address. We looked at walling off a hall for the caretaker, subtracting about thirty square feet from the studio. That is still an option.
Accessibility is another issue. Media Island is not accessible much of the time. If we seek to build a community radio station, we must make an accessible location. Drive time radio at 7:30 a.m. and late night radio just aren't feasible right now. The house simply can not provide this; Media Island has limited (no) staffing. We seek to minimize the impact on the house, and allow for a self-contained station, perhaps with nice insulation so we can even get loud sometimes.
